Rude Dog

Rude Dog is a white cartoon dog who, in J&D's ToonWorld, is Roofus the Roller Roo's best buddy.

Rude Dog was originally created by artist Brad McMahon while under contract to Sun Sportswear in the 1980s as part of a line of Surfing and skateboarding-related clothing. The character was a stylized version of a Bull Terrier, and the name "Rude" had the dual purpose of glorifying uncalled-for deportment and referring to the Rude boy subculture of Ska that was popular at the time.

To further market the character, Sun Sportswear also developed a Saturday morning cartoon entitled "Rude Dog and the Dweebs". Rude Dog and the Dweebs was as colorful as the clothing it advertised.

Rude Dog is currently voiced by Rob Paulsen in a Brooklyn accent.

Appearance[]

Rude Dog has white fur with a large pink spot on his back, neon green teeth, and large point ears that aren't the same color (with the left ear being green, and the right one pink). He also has large eyes (one is colored pink, and the other is black), upright chevron-shaped pupils, and a neon green spiked collar around his neck.

Personality[]

Rude Dog is the leader of the Dweebs. Rude in the context used in the show meant radical, cool and totally awesome and he looked and acted it.

Trivia[]

  • Rude Dog owns a 1959 pink Cadillac car.
